Trauma Sensitive Yoga
Trauma-Sensitive Yoga is an empirically validated, adjunctive clinical treatment for complex trauma or chronic, treatment-resistant PTSD, developed at the Trauma Center in Brookline, Massachusetts. TSY has foundations in both Trauma Theory and Hatha Yoga practice with an emphasis on body-based yoga forms and breathing practices.
The practice:
- Is very gentle and practiced at slow pace
- Is a way to become friendlier with your body and your physical sensations
- Is focused on practicing noticing how you feel, making choices based on what you feel, and taking action based on your choices
- Emphasizes self-awareness and self-regulation through the practice of physical movement and awareness of your breath
