Meditation is a way of being, not a technique. Meditation is not about trying to get anywhere else. It is about allowing yourself to be exactly where you are and as you are, and the world to be exactly as it is as well.
- Jon Kabat-Zinn
I believe everyone can meditate. Meditation can happen while being still, as well as while being in motion. Meditation is being with your whole self, including your thoughts, your breath, your body, and all your senses. In short, it is a ancient and profound practice of familiarization. It is not about obliterating or controlling your thoughts, but about cultivating the ability to hold the whole spectrum of your human experience in compassionate awareness. Meditation helps you distinguish feelings, thoughts, and sensations you experience from your Self, thus improving your ability to respond rather than react to habitual patterns of thought and behavior.
