Kripalu Yoga
I received my training as a yoga teacher at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health, and it transformed my life in profound ways. Kripalu means 'being compassionate', and Kripalu Yoga and the Kripalu Yoga Center was named after Swami Kripalu who came to the United States from India in the late 1970's. The Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health is now situated in the beautiful Berkshire mountains of Massachusetts and integrates the wisdom of Yoga with the latest research in the effects of yoga.
When I first stepped through the doors of the Kripalu Center I had no idea how much my time there would impact my life. The teachers and wisdom of the Kripalu methodology shaped my yoga practice and teaching, not to mention how it changed my relationship to my self, my body, and the way in which I engage with the people and world around me.
Kripalu Yoga emphasizes the 'work-in' over the 'work-out', utilizing the practice as a doorway into deeper awareness and compassion, and a pathway to actively and skillfully participate in the flow of your life off the mat.
